On October 28, 2023, we took a huge leap of faith and launched the Uprooted Journey Instagram page, officially beginning our sourdough journey. While the passion for baking sourdough bread had been with us long before that, that moment marked the beginning of our commitment to sharing our love of bread with you, our community.
As we reflect on this journey, we’re filled with gratitude for all the support we’ve received. From the ups and downs to the lessons learned, we’ve come so far — and we can’t wait to see where this path leads.
1. Our Story
It all started in our home kitchen, with a single sourdough starter. At first, it was a hobby — a way to learn the art of fermentation and slow baking. But as we baked more and more, we realized there was a community of people who wanted the same thing: handcrafted, high-quality sourdough bread and baked goods that were made with care and love.
2. From Hobby to Bakery
Turning a passion into a business wasn’t easy. We had to learn how to scale up, juggle the demands of the bakery while still maintaining our day-to-day life, and navigate the challenges of being a home-based bakery. There were plenty of late nights, plenty of failed loaves, and a few tears along the way — but there were also so many triumphs and moments of joy.
3. Our Growth
In the past year, we’ve been able to grow our bakery, increase our weekly output, and add so many exciting new items to our menu. From Classic Sourdough and Rosemary Butternut to seasonal favorites like Cranberry Orange Scones and Garlic Parmesan Bread, we’ve built a menu that celebrates the flavors of every season.
4. The Future of Uprooted Journey
Looking ahead, we’re excited about what’s to come. With plans to invest in heavy-duty mixers and expand our offerings, we’re more committed than ever to bringing you the best sourdough and baked goods we can. Our goal for 2025 is to grow while staying true to the handmade quality that defines Uprooted Journey.
We’re so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your lives, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. Thank you for supporting us — whether it’s buying a loaf at the Rockwall Farmers Market, sharing our posts on social media, or just cheering us on. We wouldn’t be here without you.
